Cakes in Constable country
James and his wife Hilary spent a weekend in the Suffolk English countryside where they visted Flatford Cottage. James tells us more about his enjoyable break away from his busy life in London.
What did you do on your trip?
Whilst spending the weekend in Suffolk we visited Flatford to view the Constable exhibition. Unfortunately we weren't aware that we could have had a guided tour of the major Constable sites where he did some of his most famous works. However we pleasantly explored the grounds by ourselves. Next time we'll definitely go on the guided tour especially as it's only £2.50.
Where and when did you go on your trip?
Beginning of September.
What did you like best about your trip?
Just spending time in the area was really pleasant. Imagining Constable painting away and seeing how the landscape has now changed was a really delightful way to spend time.
The cakes at the café were delicious and just what we needed after an hours walk around the cottage. They were a bit more rustic than something you'd find at The Ivy but fantastic all the same.
We truly felt that we were part of the British countryside.

We just visited the tea shop. Well worth it!
